I had the pleasure of learning about Nikki's blog the other day. I don't know why I hadn't seen it earlier, because we know people in common and being a graduate from the RMIT course I was enrolled in, Nikki's name was spoken about in semi-revered tones as someone who had gone on to bigger and better things. I was never sure of where to see her work, but I knew she had collaborated with designers such as Akira, so to me she had a shroud of mystery around her.
So when I did finally see images of work, it was indeed a pleasure because role models for what I want to do aren't thick on the ground, especially in Australia. Her work treads that very fine line of artisanal craft, fashion, romance, wearability and style - no easy feat.
