hello! i've added a new sweater to my shop. it's australian merino wool once again and a lovely soft mushroomy colour. the pocket is a printed cotton with a vintage button closure. the fit is the same as the previous sweaters but this one has the rolled hem and is slightly cropped. it's definitely the prettiest piece i've made so far. i feel like i should call it 'the genevieve' or 'madeleine' or something, but i'm staying practical and calling it the 'button pocket sweater'.
i've also decided to make a bold move and transfer my shop to here (and link is also in sidebar). i found that a lot of people were emailing me when i quite hurriedly put up the garment catalogue (which is now merged with the shop) rather than using big cartel. on the one hand i was surprised as i thought people would like the 'security' of going through an official shop, but then on the other hand there are lots of pros of listing things on in a blog format: for instance, the images are much bigger and you can have as many as you like, comments are enabled, i can update it really easily and pieces are archived rather than disappearing as soon as they've sold out. in addition, instead of taking full payment up front, i've been asking for a small deposit to help cover the materials expense and taking the balance via paypal when the piece is ready to ship. this works for me and i know can be helpful for my customers. anyway, i will see how it goes. i can always go back to big cartel if it doesn't seem to be the right thing after all.
last of all for today, ursula from modaspia sent me these images and wrote a little post about a sweater i sent her. ursula's become somewhat of a mentor to me, answering lots of questions i have in great detail and generally being very encouraging. i initially met ursula through her beautiful work so i sent her a piece not only to thank her for being so good to me but to also get her thoughts on my handwork and design. i think she's a beautiful model! thanks ursula.
