byzantium

if you've been reading my blog for a while you'll know that i love the work of melbourne artist katherine bowman. this city has a strong jewelry scene and i'm particularly drawn to katherine's work because the pieces often look like old, antiquated treasures that have been excavated from the ground. there is a great deal of background research and often strong references to textiles in the work, which i love.

the rayman and i had our wedding rings made by katherine a couple of years ago and i've had the pleasure of getting to know her a little in the time since. and i am very excited about my new byzantium ring:

this ring takes ages to make because it's all hand engraved (and it was also very hard to photograph because the texture is so fine).  you can see my older ring below.

katherine works across a variety of mediums and has a beautiful new website where you can see all the works below and more exciting news, she's opening her own online store very soon.

thanks so much katherine!
