this is milan and venice. we didn't find milan particularly conducive to romantic wandering and my best pictures were taken in a rather shady looking area that we got hopelessly lost in. i had my most memorable meal of the trip in milan however (risotto alla milanese rather uncoincidentally) and after that i could forgive the city for almost anything.
venice seemed to be heaving with tourists but we walked up from piazza san marco to the train station along the back streets and we hardly saw another person.
