a very happy 2012

hello, it's been awhile! here are a few snaps from my recent trip to singapore. these images sum up many of my visits there, however, this trip was a little different as we spent a lot of time at the hospital with my grandmother who is not so well. it was a little bit stressful, but we were very grateful to have this time to spend with her.

in the week we have been back at home i've been trying to look after myself. i was mentally and physically burnt out so have been taking lots of bike rides, dips in the sea, having friends over for lunch and dinner, visiting my favourite op-shops, re-potting plants and spending time away from the computer. i've also been thinking about my work (probably a little too much) and where i want to take it this year. i have a desire to grow and expand my label but i also want to make each step a conscious one that will interest and nourish me. i haven't figured out exactly what primoeza will look like this year, but i feel like it will be a good one.

pedicure - a singapore only treat.

singapore: shopping

i picked up a few little goodies in singapore. generally i don't buy a lot of clothes over there as the aesthetic doesn't suit me, but they have a few stores that i really, really wish we had in melbourne: muji, kinokuniya and marks and spencer (purely for the coarse cut seville orange marmalade, which is the best marmalade ever).

i stocked up on basics from muji (btw, muji singapore is miles much better than muji new york because they have clothes).

i usually never buy home stuff when overseas, but this time i got a cotton quilt cover and pillowcases, again from muji. they very reasonably priced and have that nice washed linen look.

i was very restrained in kinokuniya and picked up only two publications. the new york store actually has a much better selection of japanese home/craft publications.

and the marmalade! my two bottles got confiscated at the airport because i tried to do the right thing and put them in my hand luggage so they could be inspected in australia, but i forgot about the no liquids rule. boo! well i hope someone took them home rather than throwing them in the bin.

singapore: views

some views from inside and outside the apartment.
a funny story on the side: you can see my great grandparents in the last image. my great grandfather's father was a very successful tin mining tycoon - i read in a book that my great, great grandfather once scoffed at an offer of 8 million dollars for his mine in the late 1800s and said that 10 million would be worth considering. later on, the family fortune was famously squandered away by one (my great grandfather's) generation.

singapore: morning run around goodwood hill

goodwood hill is a place famous for its colonial black and white houses. my grandmother lives close by so we were lucky to take our morning walk/run in this area. peeking at the houses through the trees takes you back to another time.
