pizza!

in amongst all the knitting i managed to finish a couple of rolls of film this week and i'm excited to show some new pictures here! these ones are from a pizza night i went to a little earlier in the year. the balls of dough were so pretty i was glad i thought to bring the camera. it was such a treat see the home made oven in action and to be fed by people so passionate about pizza.

and thank you all for your comments on the previous post. i so greatly appreciate the feedback and support i receive through this blog. i don't like writing about the rough patches much only because i fall into a morose state way too easily, but it is interesting to reflect and observe the path one has traveled on every now and again. here is some great listening for the weekend. have a good one.

getting ready for autumn

i love autumn. it's my favourite month of the year for its balmy weather, changing colours and rustic food. but mostly i love the melancholy, hazy light that settles in for the season.

above, i picked up a beautiful isabel marant blazer on sale at an amazing price, which i can't wait to wear. i've been dipping into my copy of the latest 3191Q that has lots of inspiration for cooler weather and those are some early autumn leaves that fell into my bicycle basket when i was out riding.

clothing sale

i'm selling some pieces out of my wardrobe, mostly motivated by my purchase of two wolf model forms late last year that put a big dent in my budget. i occasionally sell things on ebay, but i thought i'd show them here first as i think some of us might share the same taste (and i'd like my clothes to go to good homes!). i'll add some more things over the next few days. see details here.

it's been a sad week with two loved ones passing away almost on the very same day. primo our orange cat is such a caring personality, whenever i am not myself he senses it and sits with me. these images show scenes that i see frequently and never fail to make me feel happy.

serendipity

have a wonderful festive season! i am off to singapore for a short trip and will be back early next year.

 i've been waiting for green to make a comeback. so many beautiful shades and lately i've had my eye on the dark, forest-y kind. i found this pot in the op shop.

i discovered this beautiful plant hiding at the back of the garden. i've been obsessed with putting the leaves in vases around the house.

and then i saw jennifer in one of her stunning new pieces, which i have to say, looks so nice with her cloudy day cardigan.

i assisted olga with a little photo shoot today. it was fun and i think olga got some lovely images - i was really amazed with the way she could capture the light.

wrap up this week

happy to report i am back on track- i made good headway into two new samples, which makes me feel infinitely better. i bought the new apartamento, which only recently came into the shop. each new edition cements it further as my favourite magazine. i picked up a very cute (and free) publication from incu. although it is a fashion store you have to love that they've put the focus on food in their pages. and also, everytime i visit the men's store the staff are so incredibly friendly. i hope they have nice people in their new women's store too. a lovely postcard to stick up on my wall from kiehl's, some new black and white film and a gratuitous inclusion of my contax t2. oh, and some check fabric from the tessuti sale. i'm tempted to make a dress inspired by this for myself.

a while ago i planted a lot of cuttings into boring plastic pots until the roots took. recently i transferred the more successful ones into proper pots. i was amazed that as soon as i did this they started to shoot and put out flowers even more. it reminded me that when things are given love and attention they bloom (no pun intended).

also, have a look at julia's new site. she's done an incredible job and everything looks so appealing. if she she had the enkidu dress in my size i'd snap it up.

so:

1. good food is very important to me. i was brought to tears once in a restaurant because my dish was so bad. 

2. i met my oldest friend when she was four and i was five.  we made a pact when we were little that we would never get married. i was the witness at her wedding in new york last year.

3. i've been married for two years and been with my partner for almost 15. this always confuses people because we both look younger than we are. 

4. people ask me regularly if i am japanese. for the record, no, i am not.

5. being a true virgo, one of my favourite therapeutic past times is tidying my closet and refolding my clothes.

6. i didn't eat meat for 10 years. i broke when my florentine born friend made a baked dish of italian sausage wrapped in chicken breast wrapped in prosciutto.

7. i didn't really enjoy my 20s. 30s seems to be turning out much better.

things other people do

i give the things i make plenty of air time here but this post is totally devoted to other people's creativity. i'm lucky to be friends (and have a partner) who do creative things and this inspires me enormously. last night we went to my friend daniela's first solo exhibition opening at the guildford lane gallery. daniela is a very old and dear friend (who you might recognise from here) and the rayman's band played. i didn't take a lot of pictures but here a couple shots from the night. daniela's work is really wonderful and the exhibition runs until 8th may if you are in the area.

second, olga's new book! this is going to be a beautiful publication. i know an enormous amount of work has gone into making it materialize and i'm extremely happy to be a part of it. you can pre-order a copy here.

and last but not at all least, a lovely gift from my friend wendy who owns portobello lane, the best shop on chapel street. this sweet charm necklace is from wendy's own jewelry line and she knows how to pick the perfect card. thanks wendy!

the non-raffle wrap up
