last outtakes

two more outtakes from the shoot. the first image was one of the first we took on the day. i actually love the slight awkwardness of it and wanted to use it in the final edit, but as you know, i went for this one in the end.
 ................................

thank you so much for all orders placed so far. i am working through them solidly but since each piece takes me a whole day to make (sometimes more), it is quite slow work. i really appreciate my lovely customers who are willing to wait awhile for their order since we are all so used to instant gratification!
...................................
the patchwork sweaters (in the images above) are still 'coming soon' as i'm waiting on the yarn and it actually seems a good idea to stagger the orders so i don't become too overwhelmed, but i hope to open them up soon.

pink + orange (long weekend)

had a somewhat rare, relaxing long weekend. went to see some exhibitions, including this lovely one at milly sleeping (i have some work in this) and then william kentridge at acmi, which may go down in my list of top 10 favourite exhibitions, ever.

also picked up the new gentlewoman at mr kitly and i haven't bought nailcolour in years but i was inspired to pick up this shade of pink from obus.

getting ready for autumn

i love autumn. it's my favourite month of the year for its balmy weather, changing colours and rustic food. but mostly i love the melancholy, hazy light that settles in for the season.
above, i picked up a beautiful isabel marant blazer on sale at an amazing price, which i can't wait to wear. i've been dipping into my copy of the latest 3191Q that has lots of inspiration for cooler weather and those are some early autumn leaves that fell into my bicycle basket when i was out riding.

shop open

first of all, thank you so much for your emails and comments regarding the post below. it really is amazing to have such kind words coming from all over the world. we are trying to get back to normal life now after the turbulence of last week and are just very grateful for the time we spent with my grandmother and our dear friend roslyn.

onto brighter topics,  i have re-opened my shop. i was going to wait until i had some new things to show but i've been getting some requests for designs from last year so i've decided to list them (plus a few favourites) for a short time. these pieces will all be made to order and may take two to three weeks. i apologise that it's a bit of a wait but i'm juggling a few different things and also nutting out how to manage my workload as last year it started to have effects on my health and well being.

below are some lookbook images that i don't think i've shown before, created by the wonderful more & co of course. it was very hard to choose which ones i loved the most.

shop update

i've run out of wooden buttons so cardigans will go out with vintage, french horn buttons (as in image). equally as nice in my opinion, maybe even more so.

international shipping is back up to $29 as all parcels will go out registered post as we head into the busy season.

orders will close in the next two weeks. this will give me enough time to order more yarn if i need and then make up pieces before the end of the year.

thank you!

reading for the long weekend

we had hopes for getting away to the country for the long weekend but in the end i thought it better to stay home and work on my orders. the next best thing is a pile of new reading. this is what will keep me entertained over the next few nights.

i was so pleased to find this publication here. i thought it was long gone.

underscore. a favourite. wish i was in singapore in time for their magazine exhibition.

broadsheet. a nice, free street publication.

and monocle. there's always so much in here i can never read it from cover to cover but it sure does make you feel like you've toured the world.

in the monday morning post

receiving a parcel is exciting! especially on a dark and cloudy monday morning after you've been working all weekend. thought i'd share this adorable packaging and its beautiful contents from anaise.

new at anaise

very happy to announce that there are a few primoeza pieces now available at anaise. renee has such impeccable style, it's amazing to be represented here. unfortunately i didn't have the dress ready for the photoshoot, but these are some pictures i took a little later on.

i'm still getting interest in the older pieces i made and each pattern takes such a lot of work, so i'm thinking about ways i can continue on with them and also push myself forward as a designer, this button pocket dress being an example.

the dress (which is exclusive to anaise) is here, and the gridlines scarf is here.

another monday

enjoying the sunshine today. it's been so cold and rainy since we've been back, i feel like we're the ones that are heading into autumn. the tree outside my window, however, was bare when we left for overseas and now it's full of leaves.

i'd been coveting this blouse ever since i saw it several months ago. i was so happy to find it in new york, especially since i read here that it's the final clothing collection for mociun.
__________________________

shop note:
my postal expenses have dropped a little - perhaps the average weight of the new pieces is less, so i've decided to make shipping everywhere a flat rate of $12 for garments ($5 for each additional piece) and $10 for scarves until further notice.

dagmar + osborn

julia of dagmar rousset must be one of the most stylish women in melbourne. whenever i've seen her she's wearing the most unexpected combination of clothing but somehow it just works. so when she ordered a cardigan from me awhile back i was extremely flattered. i finally dropped it in to her the other day and had to snap her wearing it - it goes so perfectly with her outfit don't you think?

while i was in her shop i picked up these amazing justine ashbee for osborn shoes. the bottom image shows the very sweet soles, because these things are important.

state of design - the rest of the days at d:m:t

i was very optimistic naming the previous post 'day 1', as if i was going to continue up with chapters 2, 3 and 4 -  the past few days were craziness! so many visitors came through our studios and really engaged with us and our work. i intended to get around and take some shots of other stands, but in the end it was actually great just to meet a lot of people that i knew of but never met in person including lara and tegan, yumi, george and of course, the other open studio participants. lucy over at the design files has a pretty comprehensive wrap up of the event (including a photo of me with a goofy smile) that you can see here. thanks lucy!

anita and kim from craft victoria were lovely as always and milly flemming, who handled most of the organisation is nothing short of super-amazing. i'm not exaggerating. nicholas was a great studio partner, very gentlemanly and extremely generous in introducing me to lots of new people.

it seemed like everyone at the event was shopping up a storm - i was so clueless- i didn't even really bring in any stock to sell. but i did manage to pick up a few little things -

a macrame plant hanger from stampel (and in the background is a framed card by sandra eterovic, a blog buddy who i met).

a necklace from emily green

and, and, and  a gorgeous silver and 10 carat gold ring by milly flemming herself. i love gold and silver used together and i'm so excited to have another beautiful delicate ring that i can wear all the time.

thank you state of design and craft victoria! the event was so much fun but it's good to be back at home.
